This course runs for 2 hours per session over an 8 week period, it is a recreational course run by a qualified tutor and experienced cake decorator which is suitable for complete beginners or for those who have had a little experience and would like to develop their skills further. This course will provide you with the confidence and ability to create simple and impressive cakes. Each student will have the opportunity to continue onto the intermediate course and to take part in Saturday workshops. All classes are held at our shop premises on the Birmingham New Road, Coseley, Dudley.

An introduction to using basic sugarcraft equipment
Level, slice and add fillings to a sponge cake.
Cover a sponge cake with sugarpaste.
Decorate using a variety of techniques including crimping, embossing, and frills.
An introduction to piping in royal icing.
Writing in royal icing techniques.
Create a top decoration of moulded roses.
Create a top decoration of teddy bear and building blocks.
Basic cake decoration tools and equipment will need to be bought to class along with edible ingredients, a list of these items will be available at time of booking, they can also be downloaded from the 'Documents page'

The workshops are aimed at students with an intermediate level of cake decorating skills, ideally you need to have attended a beginners cake course previously but you do not need to have carved cakes before, these workshops are a good introduction to learning the basics of carving and covering sculpted cakes. The workshops are ideal for all of you who have dreamed of carving a sculpted cake but have not yet had the courage to go for it, you will leave the workshop with a beautiful sculpted novelty cake and most importantly the confidence to continue to carve cakes. You will also learn a variety of different decorating techniques . Workshops start at 9.30am and finish at 3.30pm with a 30 minute lunch break, drinks will be available throughout the day. The cost of a workshop is £50 which includes some of the materials that you will need to complete the project, you will however need to bring a cake with you and basic cake decorating equipment, a full list will be sent to you at time of booking along with a recommended cake recipe.
Private tuiton is now available at the price of £20 per hour at our shop premises in Coseley, all equipment will be provided but you will need to provide your own edible items, you will need to check availibility before booking.
Terms and conditions:
From 1st August 2011 all course fees are payable in full at the time of booking to secure a place on the course, this fee is non-refundable if you should change your mind. In the unlikly event that I should have to cancel the course all fees will be refunded in full. Places are limited to a maximum of 8 places, courses will not start until at least 6 places have been secured. If you miss a week it is your responsibility to catch up.
At the time of booking an equipment list will be sent out to ensure all students have the opportunity of purchasing the correct equipment, You will be able to obtain your items from our shop.
